Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is a healthcare discipline that is centered on the role of the spine and central nervous system in maintaining good health, and leveraging the recuperative power of the body to heal itself naturally and efficiently. The practice of Chiropractic focuses on the relationship between structure (of the spine) and function (as coordinated by the nervous system) and how that relationship affects the preservation and restoration of health. Chiropractors identify and correct the cause of health challenges which arise when misalignments of the vertebrae (the small bones that make up the spine) disrupt neurological communications between your brain and the cells, tissues, and organs of the body. Chiropractors correct these misalignments by gently adjusting the position of the vertebrae of the spine, reducing or eliminating neuropathy (changes in the pathology of the nerves) thus allowing your body to properly self-regulate, adapt and heal.

Chiropractic adjustment rarely causes discomfort. However, patients may sometimes experience mild soreness or aching following their first treatment (as with some forms of exercise) that usually resolves within 12 to 48 hours. On the contrary, most patients find an adjustment extremely therapeutic and notice an immediate change in their symptoms following treatment. For more on Chiropractic adjustments.

The Techniques used depend on the individual and the condition that they are being treated for. Most patients are adjusted using the Diversified technique. This technique produces an audible sound when the joints are moved back into place. We also use the Thompson technique and the Activator method. The Thompson technique uses the table to aid in the adjustments, the table rises and falls as the spine is being worked on. The activator technique is commonly used for infants and individuals that have very limited range of motion or who prefer not to hear the audible from a manual adjustment.
